Feature: Hand Therapy Clinics (#4)

The fourth installment in the FingerWeight Global feature series on Hand Clinics finds us in Northern California at Golden Gate Hand Therapy. Despite another week passing, we remain committed to highlighting the people and places across the country who have been focusing on the fingers, hands, and upper extremities, in this case, since 2005.

"At Golden Gate Hand Therapy (GGHT), we have a “hands on” approach to each patient. Our specialties involve treatment of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. Golden Gate Hand Therapy is dedicated to treating patients in an individualized, comprehensive, and caring manner. We strive to help patients regain mobility, function, and decrease pain.

A CHT is a OT/PT with a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including 4000 hours or more in direct practice in Hand Therapy. At Golden Gate Hand Therapy we provide specialized care to the upper extremity, including custom orthosis, individualized treatment plans with a "hands on" approach.

Melanie Johnke, OTR/L, CHT and the founder of Golden Gate Hand Therapy, in 2005, has her undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Samuel Merritt University in 1999, suma cum laude. Melanie has specialized in upper extremity treatment for 17 years, and received her CHT in 2005"
